Child Safety Standards
Last updated: April 17, 2026
Zero-tolerance policy
Date Cards has an absolute, zero-tolerance policy against child sexual abuse, exploitation, grooming, and any content or behavior that harms a minor (collectively, "CSAE"). Any user found engaging in such conduct is permanently banned and reported to law enforcement and the relevant child safety authorities.
This policy applies to every feature of Date Cards — profiles, photos, messages, date cards, and any other communication — and to every region where the Service is available.
Our commitments
Date Cards is a dating platform for adults only (18+). We commit to the following:
- Strictly prohibit anyone under 18 from using the service.
- Prohibit any content, message, image, or interaction that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor — including fictional, AI-generated, or cartoon depictions.
- Prohibit grooming behavior, sextortion, or any attempt to solicit a minor on or off the platform.
- Proactively detect, remove, and report CSAE content using human review and automated tools.
- Cooperate fully and promptly with law enforcement and child-safety authorities worldwide.
- Preserve evidence of CSAE incidents in accordance with applicable laws to support investigations.
Age eligibility & verification
Every user must explicitly confirm they are at least 18 years old via an age-confirmation checkbox at sign-up, alongside acceptance of our Terms of Use. Each confirmation is timestamped and stored as a GDPR consent record. Moderators and our community reporting system flag any profile that appears to belong to a minor. Accounts suspected of belonging to anyone under 18 are immediately suspended and reviewed. Photo-based identity verification is planned for a future release and will be documented here once deployed.
If we are informed or become aware that a minor has created an account, we will immediately delete the account and all associated data, preserve any evidence of CSAE if present, and report to the appropriate authorities.
What is strictly prohibited
The following are banned on Date Cards. Violators are removed and reported:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — real, fictional, drawn, computer-generated, or AI-generated.
- Sexualization of minors — in any form, including text, images, role-play, or roleplay of minors.
- Grooming — building trust with a minor to facilitate abuse, on or off the platform.
- Solicitation or trafficking — of minors for sexual purposes.
- Sextortion — or threats involving intimate content of any person.
- Impersonating a minor — or posting photos of minors for any purpose on the platform.
- Directing users to off-platform channels to share CSAE or evade moderation.
How to report
If you encounter a suspected minor, CSAE content, grooming behavior, or any conduct that endangers a child, please report it immediately.
In the app
Tap the ••• menu on any profile, date card, or chat → Report → select 'Child safety / Underage user'. Reports are triaged with highest priority and reviewed 24/7.
By email
Email hello@getdatecards.com with screenshots, usernames, and any relevant context. We aim to acknowledge within 24 hours.
Imminent danger
If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first (911 in the U.S., 112 in the EU), then notify us.
Cooperation with authorities
We report confirmed CSAE incidents to the appropriate child-protection agencies and cooperate with valid legal requests from law enforcement. Our reporting channels include:
- NCMEC CyberTipline (United States) — report.cybertip.org
- INHOPE network (Europe & global) — inhope.org (find your national hotline)
- Child Focus (Belgium, our home country) — childfocus.be — 116 000 (24/7 missing & abused children hotline)
- Internet Watch Foundation (UK) — iwf.org.uk
Proactive detection
Date Cards relies on human moderation combined with automated safeguards: message filters strip contact information and external URLs to limit off-platform grooming, profile review at onboarding, and community reporting through the in-app Report button. Reports involving a potential minor are routed with the highest priority. We are actively working to integrate automated CSAM hash-matching against databases such as NCMEC and the IWF hash lists — this will be documented here once deployed.
Consequences
Any user found to have engaged in CSAE conduct is:
- Permanently banned from the platform, with device-level and identity-level blocks where technically feasible.
- Reported to the relevant law enforcement and child-protection agencies.
- Denied any refund of paid subscriptions or credits.
Preserved evidence may be shared with authorities in accordance with applicable laws.
Point of contact
Our designated point of contact for child-safety matters is our Trust & Safety team. You can reach them at hello@getdatecards.com. For urgent legal requests from law enforcement, use the same address with the subject line starting with "LAW ENFORCEMENT REQUEST".
Date Cards is operated from Brussels, Belgium, and is subject to Belgian and European Union law, including the EU Digital Services Act (DSA) and applicable national provisions on the protection of minors.
